Bernie Vandenberg

Bernie Vandenberg is a Senior Consultant with Truck Accident & Incident Experts, LLC (TAIE) located out of Midland Park, New Jersey and is involved in the investigation of Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) crashes and incidents that are assigned to TAIE by either Plaintiff Counsel or Defense Counsel. It is Vandenberg's responsibility to investigate the crash/incident based on reviewing of Discovery/files and often inspect the CMV and/or area of the subject crash, then determine as to contributing factors and/or causation opinions regarding the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR), and/or the industry's standards of care. Develop a comprehensive report and a set of non-biased opinions that would help the trier of the facts, the Jury understand the seemingly impossible amount of information in the file.  

Like all TAIE Senior Consultants, Vandenberg in addition to a plethora of other qualifications is a Certified Accident Reconstructionist (ACTAR 1241) trained colleague of TAIE.  Vandenberg additionally served in the Midland Park Police Department for 30 years, retiring as a Lieutenant where he served as the department’s Traffic Unit Supervisor and Field Training Supervisor.  In addition, he was an Investigator with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Investigation Unit for 5 years.  Vandenberg has held a Class A Commercial Driver’s License since 1989 and has both over-the-road and local experience as a CMV Operator.  Vandenberg developed a course curriculum and instructed a Commercial Driver’s License Operator Class for a non-profit organization.  Vandenberg has investigated over 1,000 motor vehicle crashes for crash reconstruction purposes. Vandenberg, currently as a TAIE Level 1 Senior Consultant offers testimony when and where requested by Counsel, be it deposition, trial or de bene esse testimony.  

Vandenberg has been trained as a Bosch Crash Data Retrieval Technician.  Vandenberg is a member of New Jersey Association of Accident Reconstructionists (NJAAR), New York Statewide Traffic Accident Reconstruction Society (NYSTARS), Pennsylvania Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Society (PCARS), National Association of Professional Accident Reconstruction Specialists (NAPARS) and the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association (ILEETA).
